Guides to the Russian
Federation & CIS
Although, of course, some
guide books are not very good, when it comes to the
thorough, well researched, well thought-out ones, it
is generally a matter of personal taste and individual
experience whether the books give you what you need
or not. For that reason, we are not, as such, recommending
guide books: we are simply showing you what is available.
We have not used all of these guides ourselves but we
have researched what has had good reviews on Amazon
and narrowed down the search for you. When you click
on the "buy this now from Amazon" link, you
can read all the reviews of that book and make up your
own mind whether it will be useful to you.
If you are planning
a trip to Russia and you live in or near Manchester,
come to us and learn a bit of the language before you
go! It will enhance your trip no end. Click here

As briefly described on
another page, I had a fantastic
time in Russia when I went out there as a student.
I have also been a couple of other times to Moscow and
St Petersburg and greatly enjoyed the art, the architecture
and the nightlife.
There doesn't seem to
be a guide specifically to the Crimea but it is definitely
a place to visit. It has a more or less Mediterranean
climate and looks in parts a bit like a Greek island.
Very beautiful - and interesting, with its history and
culture as well as stunning beaches.
